Anna Draper, M.S., LMHC, ATR-BC

Background

Anna “Annie” Draper is a native Floridian with a combined passion for art and healing. She is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and a Registered Art Therapist, which means she can help clients process complex emotions both verbally and artistically. She is also fluent in Spanish.

Annie earned Bachelor’s degrees in both Psychology and Studio Art from the University of South Florida in 2001. After college, she provided direct care for teens in residential facilities and then spent several years in South America doing community development work. She returned to Florida and completed her Master’s degree in Art Therapy at Florida State University in 2014. As a mental health professional, she has worked with all ages in schools, women’s prison, and substance abuse treatment centers. Primarily, she has focused on adults with substance abuse histories and co-occurring disorders, such as trauma, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and depression. No prior art experience or skills are necessary to benefit from art therapy.

Annie enjoys teaching clients how to use materials like paint, clay, and collage to achieve therapeutic goals, such as maintaining recovery from substance abuse, reducing PTSD symptoms, reducing anxiety levels, and improving self-esteem.
